Sarah was in town for the weekend, so she joined in on the fun and celebrated with us. On Saturday there was a beer tasting festival at the White Water Rafting Center in Charlotte, so we went to that. Lee and Sarah enjoyed their beer samples and I enjoyed holding Luca (I am not a beer drinker). Saturday night we got take out and enjoyed the AC, as it was incredibly hot out at the beer tasting and Luca (and the rest of us) needed to cool off. All night. Also, I needed to ice and elevate my foot on account of the fire ant attack I endured on our hike up to the beer tasting. (I am not sure why but if there is a fire ant hill anywhere near where I am standing outside, they smell my fear and find my feet. And then attack. I LOVE NATURE.)
On Sunday, Luca and I made Lee breakfast in bed. Which worked out since Luca was getting anxious to try pancakes. The pancakes were a hit- with both Luca and Lee. And Sarah too if I'm being honest. After a late breakfast we had planned to go for a walk on Lee's favorite hiking trail. We got about 20 minutes into the walk when my dad called. He had a layover flight in Charlotte that ended up getting cancelled. We were so excited because it meant that we got to see him on Father's Day. It was such an unexpected surprise and we were so thankful for the time with him.
We had a pretty low key afternoon, we just hung out and enjoyed being together. All in all, it was a great weekend.
I am beyond thankful that Lee is my partner in crime and that I get to do life with him. I feel so blessed that we get to raise Luca together, that he is not just my husband but the father to our precious boy. He is an amazing father too- I love watching him with Luca. It fills my heart with such joy to see those two together.
We love you Lee! We can't wait to celebrate Father's Day with you for many, many years to come. We are so blessed you are ours!
Sweet father son moment at the White Water Rafting Center.
It was a lot of fun, but it was also really hot.
Back in some AC and with his favorite toy- a water bottle.
Since Luca is older, it is rare that he falls asleep on your chest. He was super tired and fell asleep on his auntie- which was a huge bonus for her. Extra snuggles are the best.
He loved the pancakes. Who doesn't?
Surprise!
Airplane!
This may be my favorite picture of all time. Look at the genuine joy oozing out of them!
Best shot we got of the three of us.
Love these two men- both are such outstanding fathers. I am blessed beyond measure!
Our weekend ended with some family snuggles on the couch. Which may be my favorite thing to do these days.
