2018, Week 12 (March 18-24)

Sunday, March 18

We started our day with Luca coming into our room and giving me the best snuggles, that lasted for an extra long time. He is usually eager to snuggle each morning, but this morning seemed different. He was extra snuggly and sweet. Lee took Jack downstairs to get breakfast started and Luca was still snuggling with me.

We spent this day playing outside in the sunshine and I got groceries. Lee started a fire because as it turns out that is his thing, and not so much mine.

At clean up this night, Luca left the toys like this. After he cleans up most nights he likes to call me over so I can "check it out" and then I praise him for getting all the toys picked up. So this night, when I came to look I asked how come all of those toys were left out. He told me "because I wanted it to look beautiful!"

Then he added that picture he colored onto his chair. And he informed me that the bear was at the police station so he could stay safe. The whole thing cracked me up.

Luca asked to go on a date, so we had a cupcake date at home after Lee took Jack up to bed. The flowers in the picture, he picked from our garden earlier in the day for me.

(PS the cupcakes were from Simple Mills- the cake mix and the frosting. Both were so, so good. The frosting looks a little funky but we both loved it.)

Acting like a pirate, because why not?

Monday, March 19

Worked out early this morning.

After dropping Luca off at school, Jack and I ran to the mall to exchange some things and get Easter outfits/gifts for the boys. That's the only photo I have- I was trying to capture the huge tea stain I got on my white shirt but you can't really see it in the photo. What you can see though is a super chill Jack who happily shopped with me all morning (as long as he had his snacks, which I accidentally dropped all over the elevator floor. OY. Thankfully, Nordstrom Cafe sells Annie's bunnies so we were back on track!)

Shopping wore him out and he napped on the way to get Luca from school. Look at those lips! And cheeks!

Luca was so proud that he successfully opened his string cheese all by himself.

Luca was playing under the table and Jack wanted in on the fun. Honestly, these sweet brothers kill me. Luca is so sweet to Jack, and Jack adores Luca.

During rest time, I worked on Jack's dedication letter and tried to choose which photo to use for it as well.

This is what Luca worked on during rest time. I love seeing what he comes up with while he plays quietly.

After the boys got up, we played in Jack's room for a bit. Luca got a deck of cards and was reading all the numbers off of them. I love to see him use what he is learning in everyday life.

As soon as he saw the joker card (which was blank) he immediately said it needed color. So his new task was to get it colored in ASAP. So we went downstairs and he got his crayons and sat at the table. He sat there and announced, "OK, I'm going to do this." (long pause) He said a second time, "Alright, well I guess I'm about to do it." It was then that I realized I hadn't told him it was ok, and that was his way of asking. Such an obedient boy, never wants to do something that would disobey. Hysterical approach too.

There it is, finished product! And there is Jack, looking to get into some trouble. Without asking or waiting for approval.

Trying on his new Easter bow tie with Daddy.

Tuesday, March 20

Nana got out of work early this day and came over to visit the boys. They were thrilled. Nana has been working extra long hours this tax season, so visits with her are treasured.

Nana was reading to Luca and I had to run upstairs so I started to take Jack with me. She asked "Why can't I read to Luca and watch Jack too?" Oh mom. So I took Jack with me and put him in his crib with some books. I also texted my dad and Sarah what she said and (sorry mom!) we all had a good laugh. Sarah's response summed it up perfectly, "there is no doing anything else when watching Jack. Watching Jack is the only job." He is busy! Sweet as can be, but busy!

He cracks me up because he has started to play the "pretend you're sleeping" game I think. Because when I walk into his room to get him out of his crib he throws himself down so hard, so fast and then giggles and giggles.

Taking turns with Nana. The one thing that Luca struggles sharing with Jack the most- his Nana.

Wednesday, March 21

Lee got Jack dressed this day and he picked such a cute outfit. After some of his previous outfit choices, Sarah voted him "most improved" award this day. Also, I can't believe that Jack is big enough to fit into that sweatshirt. It feels like just yesterday Luca was wearing it.

He was super into stickers this week, so I was trying to use them as a bribe to get him to be still, look, and smile. It didn't work out so well for me.

Luca is very into documentaries and instrumental music. He is currently obsessed with Earth II. Both the movie and the soundtrack. We found the soundtrack before we found the movie on Netflix, so we listened to it for a while before knowing what was happening in each song. He would often ask the names of the songs and we would discuss what we visualized as the music played. I honestly don't think he could be any more my child! Sweet, tender hearted, nerdy boy just like his momma.

Random lunch but Jack was into it so, win?

Post nap crib hangs while momma folded some laundry.

While folding laundry, Luca started doing some push ups. I got down to show him how to do a proper one and I shocked myself when I was able to actually do one. I have never in my life been able to do a real push up before. I was so excited and proud of myself! So I kept doing push ups all night long.

(Also, side note- I think I was so excited and proud of my new found strength because I almost just believed that I would be the girl who couldn't do push ups/was weak. Like it was a part of who I am. Until I decided that I didn't want that to be who I was and I started working really hard to change it. And to see the progress from 6 weeks of making that decision felt exhilarating.)

And so did Luca and Jack. Train up a child!

I put this badge on while playing with the boys and forgot it was still on until a little while later.

Since discovering Blippi, I know have a new method for dinner time. So far, it has been working so I can get dinner in the oven!

Luca brought this home from school this day. It was the first time he ever drew a face with such detailed features- look at the eyelashes!

Thursday, March 22

I can not get over how long Luca's legs are!

Work visitor from my Dad's perspective.

Sweet brothers.

More Blippi so momma can make dinner.

Jack had the best time playing in this box pretending he was a package that needed to be delivered. He even tucked in the flaps to try and close it. We then pretended he arrived at Auntie Sarah's and Luca took it upon himself to pretend that he was Auntie and it was hysterical. Her tone of voice was so high.

Luca's turn being the package.

Tired out from all those deliveries.

I told Luca we could go on a date this night- I had planned to take him out for ice cream since it was officially spring. However, it was so cold this day and Luca started to get sick with a cold so we changed it up. We went on a PJ date- Luca took a bath, we both put on our pajama's and we drove over to see Nana for our date. He loved it! And I kept singing "PJ date, it's a PJ date" to the tune of his current favorite TV show PJ Masks. He didn't think it was as cool as I did. I even made up an entire song! He was so unimpressed.

At my parent's house, we played cars. At one point I guess I got a little carried away and I smashed my truck into all of the cars. Luca said "That's it, you're out of the game." And he kicked me out. Thankfully, he showed me some grace and said I could come back and join them again.

Friday, March 23

Walking home from the gym and the sky just looked so pretty as the sun was rising. Those colors!

Playing peek-a-boo!

He looks so sweet and innocent...

...until he falls over because he gets carried away rocking around like he's in a bounce house.

Momma just wanted to finish her breakfast, so strapped back into the high chair he went. As you can imagine, it was a really peaceful, enjoyable time for both of us.

After I finished my breakfast, we played until Luca's hair cut appointment.

Reaching for a book on his tippy toes, I feel like it's the cutest thing ever.

More fun with the box.

While Jack napped, we watched Earth II. This is the day we found it on Netflix. Luca wasn't feeling great this day since he had a cold.

Sweet boy. He sits so well when he gets his hair cut. Since he had a cold, he would silently stare me down when he needed a tissue since his hands were under the cape.

Jack loved watching people get their hair washed.

Lunch in the car on the way home. Looking so cute with his new hair cut.

This song came out this day. It is so good.

The company that Lee works for volunteered for Habitat for Humanity this day.

He was really into this photoshoot. He kept posing for me, holding onto his bed frame.

This seat, in this position blocks Jack from lots of things (turning on/off the TV, getting into the office, climbing up the gate, etc.)

Saturday, March 24

Lee used this cooler when he volunteered on Friday, and Jack had the most fun walking around the house with it. He put some Lacroix in there and carried it into the office like he was going to work. He kills me with how he focuses on one thing for a day or two, sometimes a week. He generally moves from one thing to the next, but there is usually one item that he is obsessed with and carries around regardless. I love seeing how his mind works!

Playing before soccer.

Soccer started out a bit rough because Luca wasn't feeling great and didn't want to play. But he turned it around and played like a champ. Poor guy was running around, playing and participating while wiping his nose.

Not only did he turn his behavior around and play, but he had such a good attitude. He cheered for his teammates, he knew all the terms his coach asked for, he was an excellent listener. I was so proud.

Going to score a goal!

During the scrimmage they played, Luca was running around with a tissue in hand.

After soccer, we ran to Target. Then I went to my hair appointment and got groceries on my way home.

New hair selfie to send to Sarah.

When reading bedtime stories this night he was telling me all the things he loved about the illustrations.
