one month.

I will be honest- I vaguely remember Luca's first month. We were so so tired and overwhelmed and did I mention tired? I wasn't as on top of recording things I wanted to remember because I was really only focused on one thing and one thing only- keeping Luca fed and happy. And believe it or not- that required everything I had in me. Here is what I do remember:

- when we left the hospital, Sunday, July 21, Luca weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces
- On Tuesday, July 23, he weighed 7 pounds 12.2 ounces
- We went back to the doctor on Friday, July 26, and he weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces.
- At his one month doctor's appointment he weighed 10 pounds 10 ounces. He was 22 1/4 inches long.

- we had lots of visitors come from CT and Nashville to meet Luca! Sarah arrived in the morning- hours before Luca was born, my dad arrived Saturday, July 20, the day after Luca was born. My sister Heather and best friend Amy came the Wednesday after Luca was born, Lee's mom and sister arrived Saturday, July 27, my Uncle Randy and Aunt Cindy came at the beginning of August, and Lee's Aunt Janet, Aunt Debbie, and cousin Chelsea came in the middle of August. We are so thankful that they all took the time to come. It meant so much to us that they wanted to come and meet and snuggle with Luca, and support me and Lee.

- when Luca was 5 days old, our friend Chelsea took his newborn photos.

- we worked REALLY hard on breastfeeding. I completely underestimated how hard that was going to be. It proved to be quite the challenge for both of us and in turn made for an unhappy baby and one exhausted mama.

- Luca started smiling at the end of his first month- not gas related smiles, but smiles in response to Lee and me talking to him. He smiled for Lee first- he sure does love his daddy!

- Luca didn't seem to love to sleep, but loved to eat!

- Luca had his first bath. He seems to be enjoy them, he is very calm and usually just sucks on his wet hand.

- we took Luca on his first hike, he slept through it.

- he squirms a ton! He is constantly moving- even in his sleep.

- he started to recognize my voice, which of course I loved. :)

- our hearts grew and grew as we fell more in love with our little man as each day passed. He is growing so quickly- I can't even take it!

And now for the photos. I am slightly obsessed so there are a ton. Sorry, but actually I'm not really sorry.

Ah, those forehead wrinkles!
