Week forty.

Sunday, October 1
After church, Lee got his haircut. The kids and I hung out on the turf outside of the barber shop and waited. My friend Sarah ended up meeting us there when she left church too and we got to talk about God and how He’s moved and what we’ve learned from Him while the kids played.

I couldn’t decide which Olive smile I liked better so here’s both.

The boys played football for a bit- Luca really enjoys playing. He also loved teaching Jack some things he’s learned. It was the sweetest thing to watch. A dad asked to join in with his son so they threw the ball back and forth for a bit with them. It was just so beautiful out!

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1QA9StxIssZ3DyzvBLOo3ndUPmSQo86eDhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1JoTKHQWa3qVCmIxm-hPbYWXGSbnGmr3Uhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1TR8Wj0vzRLOrTe05lx74WqR5GkpFE_FEhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=14kMQPGc4dNxW4Ja1vVCMjq31HAvuBeu5

Olive walked around and loved it. She stood with her hands behind her back swaying when she first got onto the turf, it was the cutest thing.

She hasn’t put that baby bottle down for a week. She’s obsessed. It goes everywhere with her and she offers it to everyone she sees- me, her dolls, family on FaceTime, friends at the gym, real life babies. πŸ˜‚

5 minutes before this picture, Lee had an epic pillow fight/wrestling match with the boys. I laughed at how differently his dad-ing went with each kid. Also, all the heart eyes to see him play dolls with Olive. 😍

Playing games with the boys while I nursed Olive before bed. The boys love when he plays games with them. During bedtime snuggles they told me that was the best part of their entire weekend.

I did the FOTC workout this am with my friend/teammate Krista #sunshinesquad

Before.

After. It was a hard one!

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1H47lHKi36i4vUyDK1w0ut8v3KJCwJjDO

I really wanted to finish. Not very many ladies from our gym finished, and I really wanted to. I got so close! Which on one hand is great! But on the other hand, I kept thinking about how I could have been just a little bit faster to finish those 7 reps I had left.

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1SdNhjI-nvhX4mjYNGnBSDdeTDiE4dTbt

I asked Jack if he’d like to live in this painting and he very quickly answered, “no. There’s no Target there.”

Olive loves to sit in this little chair.

So I pulled it up to the table and we had our very first tea party!

My view while I made dinner. We didn’t have any football this night so Lee cut the boys’ hair and we got to eat dinner all together and go on a family walk, with flashlights because it was mostly dark by 7:30! While we were walking in an unlit area, Lee ran up and scared Luca from behind, he threw Lee’s phone (which he was holding for the flashlight), screamed and ran away so fast! It was so funny and is still making us all laugh days later.

Wednesday, October 4
CC day. I sat with Luca this week and loved getting to see him engage and interact and share. He didn’t want me there so I tried not to look at him or talk directly to him and definitely didn’t try and snap any pictures of him. He shared his artwork; he brought in the inspiration picture and his drawing of it for everyone to compare and contrast. He also let out a hushed but excited “yesss!” when it was time for art. His tutor and classmates were all so impressed with his drawing on perspective. His tutor told him that God gave him such a gift and I loved hearing someone else pour into him with those words and that truth.

I snuck and watched Jack share because I’m obsessed with his voice and cute self. He did such a great job!! He spoke so clearly and so well. His tutor and another mom told me after the morning how much he knows and that he was a model student- well behaved, listens so well, and is so smart. My boy!

My mom sent these from her day with Olive.

After CC I put Olive down for her nap and left for the gym. Lee sent this shortly after I left. πŸ₯΄

Taco night on national taco day. I’m crushing this mom/homemaker life. πŸ˜‚ I 100% didn’t plan it this way on purpose but still counting it as a win. I went to the gym solo and Lee made most of the meal which was amazing. Both the solo gym and dinner being mostly made when I got home.

Olive LOVES to help. She is constantly trying to do things that she thinks are helpful. After lunch, she enjoyed helping clean her tray while I cleaned the rest of the mess.

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=17YsQ283q6QyG367MLq7sUOZ1L34RdoUM

She insists on sitting with and reading with us during Jack’s lesson- every day. This day she was extra insistent and adamant. Jack always indulges her and reads to her and allows her in and lets her touch it all. And doesn’t miss a beat when we pick up the lesson after each interruption.

After reading she found a calculator and was quite pleased to recline and do some calculating.

While we taught math, she used her new calculator treasure and snuggled under a blanket.

Both boys had football this night. Lee took Olive for a walk and must’ve been playing PokΓ©mon go because I got this picture from him.

Saturday, October 7

Jack had a game this morning. Lee ran and did grocery pickup before the game. While at the game, Jack did so well! He caught some passes and went after flags. Luca and my dad passed the ball back and forth during the game and Luca really enjoyed that time. He told us all about it on the drive home, it seemed to fill him right up to overflowing. His entire demeanor was different, like he got something he didn’t even know he needed. I’m so grateful we have my parents, all five of us. For all the reasons.

Jack played center a few times this game too.

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1H2GB9D4AT08sxDY19yOywYBCWthh2BNjhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1CoYXRclRV024wABUNmY5aiQNb66iy_3e

Man, cleaning up after a toddler who eats is so much work. Lee said he didn’t remember the boys being this messy and I said that’s because they didn’t eat! They didn’t like many foods like Olive does.

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1I9t_6qNiv2cEBWzUhwY43Bwr3eFoPes1

A boy, and former neighbor, who is on Luca’s team invited Luca over to practice football at his house which was so kind! The boy (also named Luca) and his friend were so kind and encouraging to our Luca. We left and Luca didn’t want to leave, he had a blast!

Lee sent me these. πŸ˜‚ He stayed home with Jack and Olive.

Week thirty nine.two

Thursday, September 28
No sleepsack. No pants. No nap.

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1I274QMMFwGeYpK1ifsiHPnV_HZJlpEs-https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1b3666DO2yZFhT_9DFqmEpRst47wkrfEm
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1oFHgwr2r-hea2Jy-o9sXNoThegvTgAlX

This day felt extra hard to get things done. She didn’t nap and she likes to do this. With every cabinet/shelf. Which is fine, just hard to teach math while chasing after her.

She’s on her way to making an excellent hostess!

I’ve noticed in the last few weeks that the boys have a harder time focusing on Thursdays, the day after our CC day. With emotions high, focus low, and attitudes struggling I decided to switch it up a bit and let them create. They spent (Luca especially) hours creating. And when they were done their moods were so much better. SO much better. And we got through the lessons we needed to successfully. I was grateful I made that call, and that Lee encouraged me to.

Jack made the sewers for his TMNT toys to play in using straws.

Luca needs his own art studio. He can create for daysssss!

Sleepsack around her belly πŸ˜‚ Thankfully she napped this afternoon.

Friday, September 29
I entered my first ever CrossFit competition and the qualifier workouts start this week. This is the first one.

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1l_0NPC1HgHaoUsE8tCq4OVDN9yFaPphd

Cutie girl. She loves to do what we’re doing. We were trying to read Luca’s book for school and Olive was determined to hold it and wouldn’t let it go. Luca, so thoughtfully, ran into his room and grabbed a book that looked just like the one we were reading and that worked to make the swap. She was happy and didn’t fully realize we made a change and Luca got his reading lesson done.

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1OFwsscEMpNadKxusDXUnoH_N2h_mFXv5

She takes reading with us very seriously.

Luca gave me this drawing and I put it on my planner. Every time I looked at it, I was so impressed.

Saturday, September 30
We didn’t have to rush out quite as early this morning, so it was a slower breakfast/play time than usual.

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1ZSUb2Zfig0mwTy5jePQWhMpZCb3ZqsMghttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1kIARu271iFPLIX_-R9ctAF1idFCby9aX

I love how much she loves to eat and try new things and is always interested in trying what we’re eating.

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1qdtc6-fddlP48NT4vbg3pwFJKyb2--OB

Luca had a game 45 minutes away that overlapped with the timing of Jack’s game so we had to divide and conquer. I missed getting to watch Luca, but Lee sent me good videos and pictures.

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1JZvY-n3iehWaN7WZFiI8DDN7jU7EC6bvhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1hh6sSe7OyY3VM4D46fTB9QOEMyMA29yj

Back at home, Jack ate his lunch over a book and I’ll never stop loving that image.

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1xRVtXsBniwD6VUzljTyS-qhqe-aKISF0

Jack is in the bright yellow green cleats. He pulled his first flag during this game! He excitedly held it up like a trophy and looked over at me after the play.

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1SmeOw17KukOZPIJRr8ELSUlruzYG-cQu

After Jack’s game I snuck away for a few hours with my mom to have lunch and window shop. It was beautiful outside and it was so nice to get to walk around the shops outside leisurely with my mom.
