Unfortunately, Olive, Luca, and I woke pretty sick. My symptoms moved from fever/aches to congestions/sore throat and it seemed Olive’s did too. Luca had a fever all day (nothing too high) and his congestion and sore throat got worse. This flu is no joke!
We spent the day like this, again. Heather and her kids stopped by on their way back home to say goodbye. I still can’t believe this is how the week played out.
My sister sent me this Thanksgiving throw back from 8 years ago.
Monday, November 27
Olive, Luca, and I were still pretty sick this day. Jack felt great though!
See? Lots of tugging on your clothes.
Tuesday, November 28
Luca woke feeling better and Olive did too. Her eyes/face looked so much better when she woke. The boys played all day and Olive did too- changing her shoes at least 4 different times. I was pretty out of it still.
She looked so cute after her pm nap, hands folded, feet crossed waiting for me to come get her.

Olive was VERY sad Lee wasn’t home. She would point at my phone and say his name and didn’t understand why we couldn’t call him in the middle of his work day. She cried the saddest cry for quite a while. He FaceTimed her which helped but then after the call she wanted to do it again. Seeing someone you love on a screen doesn’t quite do it when you want to hug them in real life.
Gosh Lee is so handsome.
Jack tried to color with Olive to keep her happy. She colored some, but mostly she tried to take his crayon and give him the one she had. Or get a new color every 4 seconds. And repeat. He so patiently and graciously obliged, every time, and spoke to her so sweetly.
My mom stopped over earlier in the day to drop off tissues since we had run out and she also brought Lee a surprise for dinner- his favorite, scallops wrapped in bacon. Olive was wanting a bite, which when he offered her one she refused. She was extra feisty this night and went to bed early.

I was so excited to see Olive eating a pouch for the first time in a week!
We pulled out leftover craft supplies from last year and spent some time crafting together while Olive napped.
Olive has decided she doesn’t want to wear a bib anymore. I tried a different style bib and she let me know she didn’t like that one either. She worked so hard to get it off.
The CC director dropped off supplies for activities we missed while being out with the flu and included a puzzle which Jack did immediately and loved.
Friday, December 1
Olive’s new thing is to completely undress herself. This was after I had to redress her for the second time.
We met my mom at Hobby Lobby and did some shopping for more Christmas crafting supplies. Olive was only happy when holding Nana’s hand or sitting in the cart staring at her. 😂
After Hobby Lobby, we crafted for the rest of the day. I love watching the boys create. I love that they love to. I love how their imaginations and holiday joy draw those same things out of me too. I love how they like to create. But mostly I think I just love being with them and seeing the wonder of this season through their eyes.
My mom told the kids they could pick a new ornament from Hobby Lobby, from their entire massive aisle. Luca chose a Pikachu and Jack chose a pack of mini super heroes. Of all the options, Olive chose the one that’s an article of clothing on a hanger. I didn’t realize it until we got home, but it made me smile.
Olive has been refusing to nap, this afternoon she fell asleep sitting up!
Saturday, December 2
After the gym this morning (my first time back!), we picked up groceries and then headed home to decorate for Christmas.
I also took pictures of all our crafty decor that I know I will want to remember.
Luca drew these.
Jack drew this one.
Decorating our tree, Olive was semi into it.
My babies, pausing to remember our baby in Heaven.
I don't think I have ever put the star on top of the tree before.
Jack wanted his ornament to be at the very top.
Olive's stink eye in the background kills me. She stole those cards and refused to give them back.
The boys thought it was so funny to put packing peanuts on the tree as "decoration" and it brought me back to when we were growing up and we would do that to my mom.
We took some family selfies once it was all done, and the way Jack is handling his beloved snow globe in these should have given me some insight as to what was about to transpire. Spoiler alert: he dropped and shattered his snow globe all over the floor about 10 minutes after these were taken. I am not sure why those snow globes bring both boys so much joy, but they do. And he was devastated to have lost his.
All is calm, all is bright, we are ready to celebrate!
