We stayed home from church and spent the day resting and trying to heal our lingering coughs.
Luca’s drawing impressed me so much. He’s so talented!
We put out our magical mailbox that delivers letters to/from Santa while decorating the day before. So Luca sat to write one back to him after getting his first reply this am.
Olive saw me taking a picture of Luca and wanted a turn.
After lunch, my mom came over and took the boys out for dessert. They got the molten lava cake and skillet cookie for their first time.
They loved it! The lava cake was their favorite.

We missed our gym Christmas party the Saturday prior because we were still recovering from the flu. They always do awards at the party and since we missed it, I found out I won an award this day at class. I won the “spirit of CrossFit” award.
After the gym we did lots of school work and house work with play time mixed in. I feel like Olive is tall for her age. Her legs look so long!
Her go to spot, the bottom two shelves of the pantry or the Tupperware cabinet.
We’ve been learning about the human body at CC and this day we assembled our paper bodies.
First time going back out to walk since the flu. I practically ran out the door, I was so excited for some alone time. First time being alone in weeks!
Tuesday, December 5
Lee won an award too! He got his this am. He won “last minute reserve” because he always signs up for class on the way. He always shows up to class, just about every day, but doesn’t ever sign up until he gets there.
Lunch time cute.
I felt like my new watch wasn’t tracking my steps right, so I wore two on my walk to see. Olive looking at herself kills me! 😂
Walking by myself, listening to a sermon or podcast, or nothing at all, has been life changing. I didn’t realize how much I needed space like that each day until I got it.

Olive refused to nap this day. 🥴
So by late afternoon, I needed to get everyone outside to get fresh air and move, myself included. It was really cold but it was worth it,
When we put up our Christmas decorations, I took down one of our family photos to put Christmas things up for the season. Every time we eat, Olive turns and points to where it was and says, “dada.” She constantly points out how her beloved photo of her dad has been moved. And Lee, when he’s home to hear her, always says, “I know! I’ve been replaced with nutcrackers.” 😂

My legs were so sore from back squatting Monday (I did 150# for 2!) that I knew they needed a rest day. So we had a slower am before our chiro appt.
I haven’t ever been a big fan of elf on a shelf, but the boys love it and it brings them such joy. The way that they think of others is always put on display with characters like Santa, the tooth fairy, and this elf. I love getting to see their generosity and thoughtfulness in action. Our elf, Miracle, watches our family and reports back to Santa how he can be praying for us this holiday season. I changed the narrative a little bit because the emphasis on good/bad reporting is why I’ve never been a huge fan of the idea. I’m not sure how much longer they’ll believe, but I love the magic of their innocence and the wonder of it all through their eyes.
Olive loves to lay down like a big kid for her adjustments now.
She was looking so big to me in her high chair from across the room.
Olive didn’t nap a wink again this day. So this is what happens when I need to get something done. One step forward, two steps back.

Good thing she’s so cute!
It’s getting so cold! But I’m determined to get my steps in.
No naps means she falls asleep while nursing at bedtime, and I’ll be honest I don’t hate the snuggles of a sleeping baby.
Lee said, “you’re smiling so big!” I’ll never know when it will be the last time she sleeps on me, so I’m savoring when she does all the more.

We did the 5 minute burpee test after our front squat max (135# for 2, 105# for 10) at the gym this day. I can’t burpee yet because of my arm so I did max cal bike erg and got 73 both times (5 weeks ago and this day). Lee did 60 burpees and challenged the boys to do it and see if they could beat him. He told them if they didn’t beat him, they couldn’t have screen time this weekend. That motivated them for sure! Jack went first and got 61! He was so proud and excited.
Luca went second and got 64! Woo! They did this in heats so they went one at a time and the other counted/cheered as one burpeed. Glori went last and got 51 in a dress and boots! That girl is strong!
Our friend, Kallaway, came for open gym after class and the kids jumped in on her warm up and she so sweetly included and coached them all. They all loved that she did that so much, Luca told me multiple times.
Spiderman doing Spiderman things.
When we pray, Olive bows her head! She had been singing into that microphone so I asked her to stop and wait because we were gonna pray and she didn’t touch it and bowed her head. Shes so smart.
After our walk, sweet pals.
She didn’t nap again, not for one minute. But before her nap, she asked for Luca to rock her. She said “ca!” (How she says Luca) then “yeah yeah!” (What she says for her name) and then pointed to her chair. After a minute or two I realized she was asking Luca to take a turn rocking her (Jack had just finished rocking her). I wondered if that would do the trick and help her to actually nap but no such luck.
She’s so cute though.

Gym time!
After the gym I took the boys to a birthday party and Lee kept Olive at home. He sent me this, come on! I love their smiles.
Back at home. We were going to go to a Christmas parade in town but it was raining and I ended up working for a good bit, which was a huge help since Olive didn’t nap this week and I lost all my time to try and get things done.
Sarah sent me this Ann Voskamp quote and I loved it so much.
Lee and the boys were watching dock dogs and Olive stood at the tv mimicking the sounds they made, which made us all laugh.
