first week of July (part two) 2019.

Wednesday, July 3

I was exhausted after our trip. I was lucky I made it to the grocery store this day. On the way in, Luca picked me a flower.

On the way home from the grocery store I was singing and worshiping to a song they sang at Sarah's church on Sunday ("New Wine" by Hillsong). Luca was worshipping with me, which I didn't realize until we got home. After we were parked and he stopped and he opened his eyes he said, "now I know what it feels like to worship." He was genuinely worshipping and it was a really beautiful, holy, spirit filled few moments.

We had a really low key day at home for the rest of the day.

Teamwork.

Because I was so tired, I didn't get up early for my devotional time this day. I told Luca that I would be reading my bible during his rest time and that I read it out loud and all the other things so he knew (he has rest time downstairs with me) He excitedly asked if he could read with me. I of course agreed and we did it together once Jack was in bed. I grabbed Luca's journal from his room and started out by explaining what I do first when I spend time with Jesus (I write what I am thankful for). While I wrote, so did he.

Then, we prayed over the time. About 1/4 of the way through my prayer, he started repeating me. Which he did, every word, until I was done.

Initially when Luca asked to join me, he kept insisting that he would read the words in my bible and made me promise to help him if he needed help sounding them out. When I opened my bible and he saw the words and font size he quickly changed his mind and said he no longer wanted to read (haha, a cute detail I don't want to forget). So, I started reading (I was in Acts 2 that day) and got the the verse where they talk about tongues of fire. Luca said that reminded him of chariots of fire so he went to write that in his journal, but after a few letters he decided he would rather draw it instead.

After that, Luca wasn't actively listening and had ideas for a "set up" which is what he worked on (quietly and respectfully) while I continued to read.

He brought so many things! When I was done, we played together.

Lee got out of work early which was the best! They were both eating some candy Grandpa and GP sent.

After Jack woke, they flew the drone together.

Their faces kill me!

Thursday, July 4

The Famiglietti's and their friend Tom were here for a few days on their way home from Texas. My parents hosted a 4th of July picnic for them, J and Abby, and us.

Lynn and Carlos brought the boys gifts! They got them a t-shirt from Texas, as well as those whistles and sailor hats. So thoughtful!

My dad had made brownies the night before and everyone raved about how good they were. There were a few left but my mom wanted to make more for the picnic. So she made a pan too. They asked Lee to do a blind taste test to see whose was better. Lee did not want to do it, at all, but my mom made him. Lee put one brownie on top of the other, took one bite, and declared them both delicious. It was hysterical! Such quick thinking!

I then offered to do it and said my dads were better. He was really humble about his win.

We came home and played outside/ate dinner outside for a bit before bed.

Power up and energize! (What the Rescue Bots say.)

Both boys are so thin that their shorts are always falling down! They get taller and their waistline gets smaller.

We decided to keep Luca up for fireworks this year for the first time. He was very excited to be up past his bedtime and to have one on one time with us. He was also really excited to watch the fireworks.

Since fireworks are legal down here, one of our neighbors (at least one) puts on a pretty impressive show. We weren't sure who would do it this year, so we were watching and waiting. Lee was laughing at us for being in our pj's. But what do you expect when you can watch fireworks from home at 9 pm?

At first, Luca liked them.

And then he really didn't and they started to scare him. So he asked to go inside and go to bed.

Friday, July 5

Jack is always VERY eager for Luca to wake up in the mornings. Thankfully, they have both gotten back into sleeping in a good bit now that it is summer and no longer wake at 6:30 am. Luca sometimes sleeps past 9! Jack usually cries, begs to go wake him, and tried to talk to him through his monitor (which is a thing Luca does to Jack- but Jack doesn't know how to do it the right way/the button to push. It was hysterical to watch him yell at the monitor trying though.).

My parents neighbors replaced their bird feeding system in their yard and gave us their old one- so nice! We are obsessed! Lee's dad sent us a bird book, and this day we spotted a new bird and were able to look it up! Never in my life did I think I would enjoy bird watching, but here I am!

The boys and I stayed home and played this am. We spent most of the time racing cars down our front hallway. I was going to take them to one of their favorite parks but they were both having so much fun racing cars that they opted out! I was shocked.

Then we moved upstairs and played doctor.

We met my parents, brother, the Famiglietti's, Tom, and my aunt and uncle for lunch.

When we got home, Jack napped and Luca and I snuggled and watched a movie together.

Lee got out of work early again and then we all headed to Target.

We stopped at my parents afterward to say goodbye to the Famiglietti's and Tom.

Saturday, July 6

Jack woke super early to go potty this am. Lee had to study for an exam he had to take for work, so he got up and went to study while we all slept. I woke for my devotional time and then a bit later the boys each woke. We just hung out and snuggled and played until Lee was done studying.

And then they wrestled.

I ran some errands with my mom and got groceries during rest time.

Trying to fit into this bucket. Again.

After I got home we ran to grab dinner then went to Dick's so Luca could try on some baseball gloves.
