Happy birthday to my mom! After church and Olive’s nap we went over to my parents to celebrate my mom.
The queen on her throne.
We spent a good bit of time outside kicking/hitting a ball around. It was beautiful out and nice to be together.
Everyone took turns pushing/pulling the queen.
Snack break, Olive loves larabars. So does Auntie.
Just chatting with the ladies.
The cousins finally arrived and the kids were so happy! Luca had his arm around Isaac and he told me later that he liked doing that because he felt like he was being a good parent.
We had dinner and gifts and cake and we told my mom all the reasons why we love her. She is such a gift and I’m beyond grateful we got to celebrate her on her birthday. She is the most giving, thoughtful, genuine person and I thank God everyday He gave her to me to be my mom, my friend, my role model.
After we got home Lee decorated for me and we both had a good laugh at this. Reusing a kids banner but making it work.

This day was a fun day with cousins and my birthday! I have way too many pictures so I will have to do a separate post for it. It ended up also being the last time that we would all be together this week and the last day I would see Sarah before she went back home. Much to all of our surprise, this week didn't go anywhere near what we had hoped or planned or expected.

Unfortunately, Jack woke very sick in the night. So our day looked very different than we thought. He was pretty sick all day so we stayed home and took care of him. At this point in the week, I wondered if it was just a 24 hour stomach bug, and hoped it was and that he'd be on the mend the next day or so.
Olive loved this card from Auntie Carolyn and kept hugging and kissing it.
I pulled out her little purse we got her last Christmas and she loved it!
When Lee finished working, I went out to get my steps in. I saw this pal as I was walking and took this to send to the boys. Sarah was going to come with me on my walk, but it was rainy and Jack was sick. Heather ended up taking her kids to urgent care to check their coughs that just didn't seem to want to quit.

We spent this day at home. Jack was still really sick and I started to not feel well too. We missed CC and the foods I was supposed to make for Thanksgiving didn’t get made, and I had to be ok with that. This is when I started to realize that perhaps this illness was more serious than I originally thought and that the week and holiday were going to look different. Honestly, I didn't even feel well enough to process it and be sad. Being sick and taking care of a sick child can be distracting like that I suppose.
Olive loves trying to use a utensil to feed herself. Shes getting better at it!
I could not get warm.
Olive was not herself so I took her temp later in the day and saw she had a fever now too. She had such a good attitude though!
Poor bubba. He ended this day with such a high fever and no appetite. He was so out of it and didn't talk much, for the second day in a row. I hate having sick babies.
Thursday, November 23
Happy Thanksgiving! We stayed home and instead of a big turkey dinner, we ate Kevin’s chicken. Some of us didn’t eat much at all because we didn’t have big appetites. Olive was up the entire night before vomiting and with a high fever. Jack was still just as sick and so was I. Lee and Luca seemed pretty ok though. My parents woke really sick too, so there was no turkey dinner for any of us this year. My sisters sanitized my parents' house and washed blankets and we texted updates all day back and forth.
While the week looked so different than what any of us wanted, I still had so much to be grateful for. I was so sad to not get to be with my sisters for Thanksgiving or really any of their week in town, but I was overflowing with gratitude to get to be with my family of five. That we had each other and there was such joy and peace and a contentment to our day, getting to be together with the peace of Jesus in our midst, even though we were sick and separated.
Jack's first time eating since Monday! He woke hungry and I couldn't have been more excited.
We watched the Thanksgiving Day Parade and we all shared what we were thankful for this year. Jack said he was thankful for the family reunion, Luca said turkey, Lee and I said our sweet family.
Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors were in the parade and I was so excited to see them.
Working on her utensil skills with daddy.
Luca started complaining of a sore throat and was a little lethargic. Nothing too bad though.
Much of our day/week looked like this. Olive was so sick this day, it was awful. Jack still had a high fever too! I was baffled that his fever was still so high for the third day in a row. I was on day two with a fever, but it wasn't super high.
Luca had the best attitude this week, with all the change in plans, and he stepped up as such a BIG help. He also performed quite the dance routine for us this night.
The night took a turn when Jamya had a really bad coughing fit where she couldn’t stop or catch her breath and none of her asthma medicine worked. Heather ended up taking her to the ER and she was thoroughly checked out and given medicine that helped her breathe easy. Her lungs looked good, thank you Jesus! She was also tested for the flu, and it came back positive, which let us all know what we had. It all made sense as to why Jack's fever was still so high for so long. This flu is no joke!
Friday, November 24
Olive woke with a lower temperature and served as my very own personal assistant reminding me to drink water after every time I coughed.
Her love for shoes doesn't quit even with the flu. Glittery, sparkly shoes are the perfect medicine for her.
Lee was off this day, thankfully. He was amazing, as always. He did everything since I couldn't. And he did most of it with Olive in his arms because she wanted him extra when she didn't feel well.
H sent me this and I love this picture of Sarah so much, I'm including it here. Also, while we couldn't see each other, it was nice to get constant text updates from them about what was happening over there.
I had a much different look going on over here.
Jack felt a little bit better this day. Still had a fever, but not as high.
Heather, Jamya, and Isaac stopped by to drop off presents for all of us. They thought it might be a nice surprise since our week looked so different than we thought and they wanted to spread some cheer. I thought that was so thoughtful, especially since they were just as bummed as we were. They gave Olive a little purse with her first pretend lip gloss. Naturally, I showed her how to apply it and she picked it right up. My girl!
MVP. Folding mountains of laundry we washed the day prior but didn't get folded yet. Actually, I did laundry nonstop all week- starting at 3 am on Tuesday and I didn't stop until Sunday night.
Saturday, November 25
Olive still didn't feel too well, but she seemed a bit better this day than she had been.
Jamya and Isaac came over (H too of course) for a bit since we all seemed to feel ok. Olive's new thing is to grab ahold of our shirts and pull us.
I was grateful to get to see them again and for the kids to get to play one more time before they headed back to CT the next day. After they left, Olive spiked a fever and became really congested so we put her right to bed.
I texted my mom and sisters this picture and said "I have never felt more like a mom than I just had- sitting on the edge of my child's bed, taking his temperature, offering him chewable Motrin all while in my bathrobe." My sister asked if my hair was in a bun too, yep! It sure was.
WHAT A WEEK.
