Olive walks with such authority and I love it. This morning when she woke she carried kitty and her favorite book (Red Truck) in to daddy to read to her. We stayed home from church this am because Olive had a big fall the night before and woke in the night with a swollen tongue.
Olive wanted to see what her hair looked like after I put these little top knots in.
After spending most of the day resting, we ran to pick up our Target order. We went into Target so the boys could pick a toy with some of their spending money and Olive got her first real Barbie. She loved it and is enamored with her hair.
Then we got ice cream for dinner and it was such a treat on this hot day.
They had this cute little set up and when we walked by it Luca asked if I would like to take photos there. I thought that was so kind of him, since he hates picture time but knows I like to take them.

Lee sent me these from past halloweens.

I had to have a minor skin procedure done this afternoon. On our way to the gym this morning, the boys and I sang some of our favorite songs from Brandon Lake’s new album and I loved it. Luca voiced that he didn’t want me to have the procedure and asked if I could not go. When I told him I had to, he asked if he could pray over me. 😠Then he did. After his prayer he said, “maybe if you’re nervous during your appt you could play ‘God is not against me’” (he knows that’s my favorite song right now). It was all so sweet and thoughtful and both he and Jack were so sweet and concerned and loving- before and after I got home.
I was a bit nervous when I walked into the appt, and then again when I walked into the room and saw all the medical equipment. I spent the weeks leading up to it not thinking about it much so I think I was kind of surprised at how it felt a bit bigger than I allowed it to be in my mind. The procedure, the size of the incision, the care for after, etc. I didn’t think about it enough to think through all of that so I was kind of surprised by it all. Thankfully, my sweet boy gave me an idea so once the nurse left the room and I sat there alone, I put on “God is not against me.” The part it picked up at when I pushed play (because I had been listening in the car) was “You’re in it with me” and I was instantly reminded that I wasn’t alone. It brought such peace. I’ll never not be amazed at how God speaks directly to me through the mouths of my kids.
I had to stop and grab some bandage supplies (again, I had no idea I’d even need them 😂) and I grabbed a candy bar I had been wanting to try. (Which feels so random, but I read a blog post about favorite Halloween candies and people kept saying how much they loved this one so I was curious. I didn’t like it at all.)
Something else I want to remember from this day was when I put Olive down before her am nap we had such a sweet moment. She loves being sung to while rocking in her chair holding her favorite stuffed animals (kitty, then we switch to the cheetah Luca gave her). She could be sung to all day long and it wouldn’t be enough for her, she loves it. Anyway, during the final song I sang to her this morning, we locked eyes and she smiled at me so big. I sang “you are my sunshine” while looking into her eyes while she looked back up at me with the biggest smile on, and I wept. She is such a gift. Getting to be a mom is such a gift. I prayed and waited for her for so long and I feel so grateful she’s ours.
Luca had his last regular season game this night. It was an interesting game, the parents from the opposing team were very vocal.

I have way too many pictures, so I’ll have to do a separate post for this night. We finished school in the am. Lee got out at noon so we got to relax and hang before heading over to my parents to eat dinner and then trick or treat together.

I love the pictures I get at CC from my mom of my girl. They seem to have so much fun together!
I picked her outfit, but Olive insisted on wearing her black combat boots. And I couldn’t be more proud of her fashion sense at 18 months! My girl. 🥰
Happy Reformation Day! All the kids got to take a turn “hammering” Martin Luther’s theses into the church door. It was so fun and so informative. (Luca was wearing Pastor Steve’s preaching robe because he was so cold, and Miss Lauri commented that it looked good on him and something about how maybe one day he will be a preacher. I loved that statement and words over him and keep thinking about them.)
Jack looks so miserable because he was so cold. We can’t hang in 50 degrees! 😂

I spied a baby in my bed after I got out of the shower.
This made me laugh out loud.
I could see his Donnie costume out of the corner of my eye with him as Miles in front of me. 😂
After the chiro we stopped and grabbed some sweet treats.
How we do reading lessons. 😂 Whatever works and keeps him focused.
He wore this all day. I kept seeing random scenes throughout the day. They haven’t worn costumes as much lately, so I loved this a bit extra.
Friday, November 3
First time back at the gym, doing one armed squats and things.
I told the boys earlier this week that when they unload the dishwasher, there has to be an order to how they stack Tupperware otherwise they fall and are harder to grab for. I walked out to see Jack reorganizing the entire cabinet all on his own. He’s such a sweet, thoughtful guy constantly looking for ways to be helpful.
Working on his writing, looking so grown.
Luca is so sweet with Olive, he’s always trying to think of ways to include her since he knows that’s all she wants.
Lee was out grabbing grocery orders, Olive was in bed, and me and the boys got to snuggle before their bedtime.
Saturday, November 4
We had two football games this day. Jack’s last regular season game was first. His team played the best they’ve played all season, they looked great on the field! Jack has improved so much this season, it has been so much fun to watch.
Jack’s running play.
His coach got all the kids medals and when he gave them he said a quick word about each kid. When he gave Jack his he said, “natural born leader.” I treasured that in my heart and beam every time I remember. He leads by quietly serving, just like daddy.
How does my baby look like this?!
When this was just yesterday!
Next up was Luca’s playoff game. Olive had so much fun playing with Lee and some other kids. She enjoys getting to play football like her brothers.
Luca got to be team captain for this game, his first time!
Luca’s team played the best they’ve ever played. They worked as a team, never gave up, and kept the momentum going from start to finish. It made the loss a bit harder because they fought so hard. It was tied at halftime, but it ended up being 29-26 at the end.
Luca looked great out there and has worked so hard this season. He has improved so much and I have LOVED seeing his confidence grow.
After Luca’s game, we went straight to meet Josh, Abby, and Evie at a park.
Olive loved Evie and kept fist bumping her and wanting to touch her toes. Evie was happy as could be and seemed interested and content with Olive touching her feet. 😂
After the park, we went home and ate dinner and then crashed. We were so tired, Olive put herself to bed essentially at 6 pm! I wondered if I’d regret that with daylight savings that night but she slept all night. It was a full day, but such a good one.
