We stayed home from church this day to rest and catch up on sleep. I was focused on that the entire day so that my body and mind could heal and the asthmatic cough would go away.
Olive was giving out hugs so freely when asked and it was the sweetest thing- so we just kept asking.
I was supposed to take Jack out for his birthday date but in an effort to rest, Lee took him. I was super bummed to have missed it but was grateful he still got to go.
Olive wasn’t interested in going to bed at bedtime, so she laughed and snuggled us extra before finally going to sleep.

After the gym we spent the day doing laundry and chores to get ready for our trip. Luca and Jack wanted to make dinner extra special so they decorated and set the table and came up with an entire plan. I was the chef, they were the servers. They had an ocean theme and used a shark sheet as a tablecloth and put ocean waves crashing on the tv. Their excitement was so sweet and genuine. They were so excited for Lee to get home and see it.
This poor guy has been trapped for days. I wonder what the escape plan is. #boymom

How many hair accessories is too many? Asking for a friend.
Olive asks for hair bows when she finds them (she puts them up to her head) and then when you put it on her she smiles so big! I had to stop putting her hair in pigtails because she keeps taking them out and trying to eat the hair tie. She doesn’t keep bows in for too long, even though she seems to like them in. At least she can’t eat those.
After the gym this day we did things to get ready for our trip. I also made time to snuggle Jack while watching a movie with them.

I spent all of this day after the gym doing laundry and packing.

We left at 10 for the first day of driving to CT!
We made it to our hotel in PA. The boys were very excited for the hotel- all sleeping in one room and watching tv until late and falling asleep whenever (that’s what they talked about for days leading up to it). Olive wasn’t a huge fan when it was bedtime- to see her people and not be able to touch them? She felt that was a terrible arrangement and cried until late. Thankfully, she finally calmed and went to sleep.
I screenshot these for our drive the next day.
You can’t really tell here but the view of the corn fields out the window were so pretty.

BYOM.
Waiting on the boys to load up the car.
I loved these in an email I got.
Jack lost a tooth on the drive! That’s the second time he’s lost a tooth in the car.
We made it to the lake!
Sweet boys.
After Olive went to bed, I got to sit and enjoy this. It was so peaceful.
My dad is so cute with his binoculars.
S’mores time.

We went to my sister’s CrossFit gym this am and had the best time working out beside her. It felt really good to move after two days in the car and I loved getting to see her gym and the people she works out with. While there I saw a friend from high schools mom and a former 3rd grade student- who is now 22! It was so cool to see her and also it made me feel so old.
After the gym Lee took both boys in the canoe. Luca was very nervous and gripped the side of the canoe so tightly. Lee was so excited to get to take them out.
On their way back, two passengers jumped over board and swam back.
We spent the day by the lake relaxing and letting Olive get two really good naps in because she really needed that. My sister and her family came over and so did the Masses.
Sweet pals.
I loved seeing my best friend and her girls hold and love on our miracle girl. It was seriously so special.
While we were relaxing on the dock we saw Garth and Tannie coming toward us on their boat. They were out tubing with Kevin and his boys and wanted to know if we’d like to join them. It was such a fun and unexpected surprise! Luca, who was very nervous to get on the canoe with Lee that morning, was very quick to jump on board and go tubing. So I hopped on board too. He was nervous but very determined to do it and didn’t hesitate for one second. I was over the moon thrilled at his brave!! Jack didn’t want to get on the boat so he stayed back with Lee, Olive, and Auntie H.
When it was his turn, he didn’t hesitate to get on the tube. He was nervous but it didn’t hold him back and I couldn’t have been more proud.
And he LOVED it. He loved it so much, he didn’t want to stop and asked if we could do it again for his birthday later in the week.
Sarah wanted to tube but didn’t want to go alone so she somehow convinced Amy (who was in clothes, not a swim suit) to go with her and Luca joined them too. They loved it and Garth went a little faster which Luca especially loved. Amy ended up flying off the tube- which was hysterical and so ironic since she was the only one fully clothed.
After our boat adventure it was more lake fun and grilling dinner.
Two sweet dads watching their kids in the lake.
