We spent this day doing laundry, picking up grocery orders, mowing, and trying to catch up on sleep.
Jack and I tried to play a trick on Lee; Jack loved the idea and looked so cute in his excitement.
Jack is an incredibly sweet boy. I want to pause and talk about that because I don’t want to forget the small thoughtful things he says and does. The week we were in CT and Olive had her cold I went to give the boys their supplements and said something about how I wanted to be sure to give them their vitamins so they didn’t catch Olive’s cold. Jack immediately asked, “if I caught Olive’s cold, would that mean she wouldn’t have it anymore?” He would have taken it away in an instant if it worked that way. He’s deeply thoughtful and caring in the quietest of ways- just like Lee.
Luca thoughtfully gave us each wrapped gifts (wrapped himself with wrapping paper). He gave Olive one of their favorite board books and a picture pillow of him and Jack. When she opened them he said, “we’re passing down the tradition.” I thought that was the sweetest thing. He gave Jack a Dogman book and me a joke book for when I get worried at night, because when he gets worried at night he likes to read the joke book and it helps him. So thoughtful! I forget what he gave Lee, I think a toy?

Olive looked extra big to me this day.
And Lee looked extra handsome too. 😍😍😍😍
Tuesday, July 25
Olive was up for a good bit in the night the night before- I was already extra tired from our trip and after a night of poor sleep I was even more so. I skipped the gym because I couldn’t get myself out of bed in time. So we had a slower morning before going to a homeschool community meeting at a park.
Olive and I matched in our tennis skirts and sneakers and I loved it so much.
Those open mouth kisses from my affectionate girl.
Luca fell at the playground and got road rash from the wood chips, poor bubba.
Olive grabbed a wiimote and pretended to play with her brothers- laughing and having the best time as if she were actually in the game. It was so funny!

Bike intervals (32 calories each round).
Her bed hair and sauce face! Also she smiled like that as soon as she saw my phone, I didn’t even ask.
When we were in CT Jack got a glow stick that didn’t work. He waited all day to bend it and once it was finally dark he was so excited, but when he bent it it didn’t glow. He was so bummed and it was all over his face and I felt awful. I searched when I went out to try and buy him a pack but couldn’t find any. My mom relayed the story to my sister after we left and she sent him a pack of 100 glow sticks that we got this day. He was so surprised and so happy! And when he told me what to say to her he said to tell her “100 exclamation point” and I thought that was so cute/funny.
His smile! I can’t handle it. Thank you Auntie H!
We immediately went to the bathroom to check them out (me, Olive, both of my parents, and Jack- all in their half bath).
While we were at my parents, I realized these two matched in their all blue.
The boys and I wrapped gifts and decorated while Olive napped and Lee finished up work- getting all ready for Lee’s birthday the next day.
The boys are so thoughtful and intentional in what they chose to do- this was his dinner place setting and they put a movie he’d like on (that they could watch too) and even laid out a blanket over his chair for him.
Unrelated to birthday decor, Luca put this toy here a few days ago because he thought it would make me smile.
The boys put on a “last night of being 37” glow stick dance party for Lee. They are so fun and creative! I loved the idea and their performance was stellar.

Happy birthday to Lee! He had to work in the office this day so we didn’t get to see him much until after he got home.
We went to the chiro after the gym and my mom was there too. She asked if she could take the boys home with her until Pokemon club. So Olive and I ate lunch just the two of us. She really wanted to feed herself with a fork so I taught her how. She let me guide her hands so she could learn and she was so determined to get it.
Olive was a bit out of sorts at Pokemon club. She was happy to be walking around but was a little irritable. She started doing an angry grunt when she doesn’t get her way this week. I’m not sure if it’s from being overtired, getting two more molars, her age/a new season or all of the above but it’s been a challenging week in that regard.
This time she was very mad I wouldn’t let her dump all the contents of the diaper bag on the floor.
After Pokemon club we waited for Lee to get home so we could celebrate him. As soon as he got home we gave him his gifts. Then I made him one of his favorite dinners, teriyaki steak over rice with roasted zucchini. He’s not a big cake guy (he mostly just likes frosting), so we decided on cake batter milkshakes this year for dessert. My parents came and joined us for that part and they also joined as we told him what we love about him.
Jack’s card.
Luca’s card.
I made Olive and I a DF, GF shake that we shared. (She’s officially GF to see if it helps with her eczema.)
Goodness Lee is such a gift. He’s so hard working, kind hearted, loving, deeply thoughtful, steadfast, generous, and leads by serving quietly in ways that often go unnoticed. I’m so proud of him and am so grateful to call him mine. Thank you Lord for giving me the best gift in Lee.
She partied so hard and was pooped!

I took the boys’ friend home from the gym with us. They played so well all day!
Olive is now very into playing in the cabinets.

I love starting the weekend at the gym.
I planned a surprise date day with Lee for his birthday this day. It was the most fun. My parents came over after the gym and we went to see the new Mission Impossible.
Luca asked us to take a picture if we saw a ninja turtles movie poster.
I packed my own movie snacks, and I am so glad I did. They felt like a treat and didn’t make me feel sick.
My mom sent these. They took the kids to chick fil a then back to their house after Olive’s nap. I heard she insisted on holding my moms hand during the meal.
After the movie we went to dinner at a new to us restaurant that was so good!
My word he’s so handsome. We had the best time spending the afternoon together. I can’t remember we went on a date just the two of us.
