The day looked a little different than we had thought it would because of cold germs that got a few of us sick, including Olive. It was a really good day nonetheless; we enjoyed getting to remember her birth story and celebrate her first year of life.
Olive has the best temperament, she’s very laidback and loves to socialize. She adores her brothers and her daddy (who can blame her?!), she’s an excellent eater and sleeper, and just seems to be bursting with joy. Her cheeks are edibly plump and her cheesin scrunchy nose smile is my favorite. She happily sits and watches us workout each morning, content and even claps for us too. Whenever I’m singing, she will start singing too. She’s such a gift, I still can’t believe she’s ours!
We started the day with all four of us walking into her room singing “happy birthday.” Then we played with the balloons on her floor. Jack, knowing how much she loves his poke ball, chose to share it with her since it was her birthday. She loved that and I was so touched at that quiet generosity that almost went unnoticed.
Then we all walked out to show her her birthday decorations.
Luca played with her in the birthday toy set up he had made for her the night before.
She was super into the llama napkins 😂
More playing together.
All ready to party!
The boys were so into helping and setting things up and it was the sweetest.
Olive wore her cute party dress and party hat so I tried to get some pictures. Her temperament was a bit off from not feeling well, plus being one means she just wanted to moooove. But we still managed to get a few pictures of her.
Sweet helper Jack.
The party hat strap slapped her chin and she quickly lost interest after that. We all tried to get her re-interested in wearing it. No luck.
“Really mom?!”
Those sweet cheeks will always be my favorite.
Grandma and the Parkers sent her a balloon bouquet and she really enjoyed hitting them/looking at them throughout the day.
After pictures, we watched a picture slideshow I put together. Then we had a little dance party and did her gifts. With each gift you’d hand her, she’d giggle the sweetest little giggle. She knew just how to open them and enjoyed that process so much.
Luca gave Olive her first Pokémon card and even gave a little speech to her before she opened it that was really sweet. She seemed to know just what it was.
The unveiling of her play kitchen.
I loved that she knew just what to do! And that she was so excited for it.
After gifts, we had lunch- Olive’s favorite, baked ziti and dinner rolls. Once we finished lunch, we played a bit then had cake.
She enjoyed eating/playing with her cake very much. She was hesitant and gentle with it, but had fun nonetheless.
After cake, we told her what we loved about her and then she took a nap. She was pooped from all the partying!
Since we were all sick/recovering from being sick, Josh and Abby (wisely) decided not to come party with us. They stopped by to drop her gift and we got to talk with them from a distance which felt so nice to get to do.
Before bedtime, Luca insisted that he hold her one last time as a baby. He felt some big feels about her turning one.
I rocked her before bed, right “into” one. I can’t believe my baby is one! It felt extra sweet to hold her a bit longer as we passed her official birth time. She’s such a dream, I can’t believe I get to be her momma.
