Lee doesn't like breakfast in bed, so I got up with the boys and we waited for him to wake up and come downstairs for presents, coffee, and breakfast.
Luca had him close his eyes until we had everything all set and ready for him.
Lee is the best dad. Truly.
Luca made Lee so many things for Father's Day this year, all on his own. Above is the bracelet he made.
Jack was killing me because he took it upon himself to clean up all of the wrapping paper immediately. He is just like his Pops!
Wearing his new shirt! I told him he could wear it even though I hadn't had a chance to wash it. A couple of hours later he looked at me really concerned and said, "do you know what everyone is going to think when they see my new shirt?" So I asked what, thinking he would say how cool it is or something and he goes, "ew look at his shirt, it's so dirty!" And then he looked at me like "you sure it's ok to wear this before washing it?!"
I can't get over how much Jack grew in two months!
After a slow morning, we went over to my parents for steak and scallops. We had a restful afternoon and ended our day with rides in Pops' new car, Viv.
It cracks me up that you can barely see Luca's head.
Coming back, thumbs up!
Jack's turn! He got in and waved good-bye and was ready to go. No time for pictures, let's start driving this thing!
Why is Lee so handsome though??
My turn! It was really bright.
Lee's turn! He looks so cool, and I look so nerdy. Hahaha, I think I married up.

Jack collided with another little boy at the chiropractor while I was getting adjusted and got a fat lip. Oy.
These sweet brothers.
I tried a muffin tin lunch this day for the first time. That's the only muffin tin I have (I need to get some regular sized ones), but people swear by them.
"Your kids will eat so well!"
"They will try new things, guaranteed!"
Listen. Not my kids. They ate the foods from the tin they liked and happily didn't look at or touch the rest.
Printing pictures.
Since I couldn't wear makeup or contacts, I also sorta stopped washing/doing my hair this week. Not my best look, but I kept wearing hats everywhere and lacked motivation to put effort into my hair appearance. (Hence my dirtyyyy hair in that photo.)
Luca set up a "bed" for himself. On Father's Day, my mom sent one up for him at their house in the living room. He and I played, read, built legos, snuggled on it while everyone else rested on the couches/chairs. This day, while I was working in the office he made his own and I thought it was the cutest.
And his "set up".
We tried spaghetti and meatballs for dinner this night. This about sums up how it went.

Today I worked on a project from home and my dad came and watched the boys. Luca was reading and telling Jack all about the predators and which ones he should NEVER touch or eat (?) and why.
Luca LOVES to do things on his own to make me proud. This day he got himself dressed without me asking and was so proud of himself for taking the initiative. I didn't have the heart to tell him his shirt was on backwards.
It didn't really matter because eventually the shirt came off anyways. They were playing Rescue Bots outside my office.
I remember this day like it was yesterday. I was pregnant with Jack and we went on a Starbucks date. Now, when I look quickly at that, I think that is Jack because it looks so much like him! Crazy how that works.

I read John 15 again this morning, and man do I just love that chapter. I also read this devotional my bible has in it and loved that too. I have been thinking so much about those verses since this day (still, a week later).
We spent this day at home and I did a lot of cleaning and we played. Luca will often say, "Are we going to any stores today? All we ever do is go to stores!" So he and Jack were thrilled to have a play day at home.
Why is he so cute though?
I found this picture Luca drew. Jack has a book about Blippi and it is all about how Blippi dreams and what the dreams are. This is a picture of Blippi dreaming about Chase the Rescue Bot.
I set the Roomba to vacuum downstairs for me, and the boys and I went upstairs to play. We started with hide and seek. And these series of photos (below) might be my favorite of all time. And perfectly depict why I love being home and a mom and being intentional about playing with them because THOSE SMILES. My entire world.
Then we played doctor.
Jack using that stethoscope killed me. He looked so cute and was very serious about it.
I noticed that I had dressed the boys in red on top/grey on the bottom and grey on top/red on the bottom so I asked them to stand next to one another and smile. They weren't super into it, Jack especially.
But then I captured this sweet moment. The love these two have for one another is the greatest.
Working on those fine motor skills.
I walked by the table and noticed Luca's art station set up. The boy sure does love setting things up/being organized/prepared.
Tried another muffin tin lunch this day, and we also had a picnic. They were semi-interested in trying new things and Jack actually picked up and kissed a pepperoni- which is significant progress for him! So maybe these muffin tin lunches are helpful- it will just take my kids a bit longer than others for it to "work".
Luca set up the picnic area while I prepared lunch for us all. He set out coasters, plates, napkins, the remotes (I said we could watch a movie too- bonus!), toys in case we wanted to play, books in case we wanted to read, and he asked if he should also bring over my peonies. That boy kills me! When I sat down to eat I noticed he had one too many coasters out so I said that and then went to move it and he stopped me and said, "no! I did that on purpose, just in case we need extra."

I worked at the office this day and when I got home Jack had a big cut, bruised, and swollen nose. He was ok, but it was alarming to walk in and see that. Boys/brothers are no joke.
Friday, June 21
I had an appointment for my car this morning. I just needed to get something checked and update something that was recalled? I don't really know. I do know that these two are adorable and were so well behaved while we waited. (Also Luca's legs look SO long!)
#lounging
When we got home the boys opted to play in the playroom. We played Rescue Bots- shocker.
Luca wrote Jack a book, without words. He was explaining it to him. Jack said he wanted that book for his bedtime story and he wanted Luca to read it to him.
Printing pictures? Or I was blogging and he needed some love.

My parents took the boys Friday night to Sunday this weekend for our anniversary. Lee and I originally wanted to take a trip somewhere but ended up having a little staycation/day trip and it was AMAZING. My parents took the boys to a fire truck fair this day and texted me pics throughout the day.
First time riding a train!
Meanwhile, we drove to Asheville to check out the Biltmore.
Lee was so impressed by the swimming pool in the basement of the mansion. It actually made me laugh that he was so enthusiastic about it because he doesn't generally get that way - not outwardly at least.
I love touring old homes and imagining what it would've been like to live in that time period. This was the gym.
And the kitchen- which was in the basement because only servants worked in the kitchen.
The washing machine.
The views!
I wouldn't mind this patio space at my house.
Unfortunately, it started raining while we toured the mansion/grounds. So we didn't get to fully enjoy the expansive, beautiful gardens. We did walk to the Conservatory and see some of the gardens which was nice.
That's a replica of the mansion made of all natural materials.
Because it was raining I took the worst photos of the mansion. If it hadn't been raining, we would've walked the grounds to get a better shot. But we didn't and this is really all I have and it's literally the worst photo ever.
After that, we drove over to the winery and enjoyed our first ever wine tasting.
The sun came out in the late afternoon and it was beautiful! We had dinner and then headed home. We enjoyed the day so much. We loved touring the mansion, seeing the gardens even though it was pouring, and the wine tasting. But more than anything, we loved adventuring together.
Back at Nana and Pops', these two were living their best lives in their bunk beds.
